- Why is NFTCDN currently free?
- The current Free Mode is funded by the Cardano Blockchain, thanks to the community of DReps voting to support our proposal to make NFTCDN free for everyone to use until March 31, 2027. We are working to extend these benefits beyond this date (open sourcing, decentralising and/or selling NFTCDN) and will share more details on our Discord in due time.
- What's the benefit over an IPFS Gateway?
- IPFS Gateways help you get multimedia content. However, extracting media URLs from Native Asset metadata is not simple. You must first address various CIP standards, retrieve media from different storage protocols, transcode it for optimal user experience, and implement a caching layer with a CDN, all while ensuring security and reliability. Our API endpoints are truly storage protocol & source agnostic; you only need the fingerprint!
- What's the benefit over a typical CDN?
- A CDN (like Cloudflare) is just one small part of the overall solution. You need to get media URLs from the blockchain, handle multiple evolving standards, fetch media from middleware, cache, sanitize & optimize them, and only then serve them using a CDN. Our service takes care of all of this - simply plug & play!
